OUR STORY
Founded in 1927 by Abe and Lena Schwartz, alongside their sons Marvin and Ely, the Schwartz family established a reputation for managing some of Missouri's most desired and respected hotels. In 1954, a large hotel operator offered to buy their properties, and together, they decided to pursue their dream of moving to California. With a passion for real estate and an eye for opportunity, Abe and his sons saw enormous potential in the manufactured housing industry, especially as Disneyland’s 1955 opening in Anaheim sparked a rapid surge in local jobs and housing demand. In response, they began developing Palm Lodge Estates in 1955, officially opening its doors in 1957.
By 1975, with the sons at the helm, the family proudly operated five manufactured housing communities across Southern California. In 1987, Marvin’s daughter, Deann Schwartz Pancheri, joined the family business. Rising through the ranks from site-level roles to area manager, she is now the President & CEO of AMI, a company her and her father established in 1990. Deann is dedicated to preserving her family’s legacy, driven by a strong core management team and a compassionate, hands-on approach to supporting her employees, residents, and clients.
In 1987, Deann obtained her certified manufactured housing dealer license and founded New Image Homes, which specializes in new and resale manufactured home sales in Orange County. Her husband, Travis Salem, a licensed real estate broker, has been instrumental in uncovering new development and real estate opportunities for AMI over the past 15 years. Recognizing a promising direction, Deann expanded AMI’s focus to include storage facilities in California and Arizona, a decision that has proven highly successful.
Today, her daughters, Danielle and Brooke Pancheri, represent the fourth generation of family leadership, committed to learning and advancing the business with integrity. Through its diverse portfolio, AMI remains dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service to all clients.
